By day, I am a Strategy Specialist with a focus in Social Media. In my role, I spend time analyzing trends, and finding unique ways to make them work for clients.
One of my favorite Instagram trends for 2023 are “dumps” - a carousel post of real, random photos and videos that covey a story or mood.1 It’s my favorite trend for the year because it’s a way to connect through authenticity for the beings we are, rather than versions we work tirelessly to polish for Instagram and the aesthetic. Don’t be mistaken. The Libra in me also lives for a themed photo dump.
This is one trend that I love to use for my Instagram. It’s become a way of reflecting on and summarizing emotion packed moments from the past year and a half, and I thought, “why not bring that energy to Substack on a grander scale?”
February’s Dump
Moments & Experiences
I found this gem through Instagram and had been dying to try their brunch. After a stressful week packed with raging emotions, I asked some sorority sisters if they wanted to go, and boy, do I plan on returning! Their biscuits are flaky perfection for a cause. With every order, proceeds go to Tupelo Honey Relief & Development Funds that aid Tupelo employees in need. HOW COOL?!
R&B Only Concert
I found their page on TikTok over a year ago and was waiting for the moment they would bring it to a city near me. Well, they did, and I got me and five of my sorority sisters tickets. It was a great way to ease myself back into crowded social settings, surrounded by two things I love: people who feel like family and music that speaks to my simp soul.
Content & Individuals that Inspired
She and her partner went to N.Y.F.W. this year, and the content they produced throughout the week has been inspiring. I met Nina last year in the Spring/Summer when I hired her to take updated professional photos of me - her energy was GOLDEN. We naturally talked about our passions, and social media came up for both of us. We stayed in contact and eventually met in the summer to talk about how to make her transition into social media. It’s inspiring to see her pursuing her passions and God gifted talents full time now.

Biolage HydroSource Detangling Conditioner: I retouched my blonde highlights this month, and this is UH-MAZING for detangling my hair. I even use it as a leave -in!
Laneige Lip Mask: I use this over a little bit of lipliner, and it’s perfect for an everyday lip treatment.
MAC Cosmetics Sunbasque: I went through a blush last month (THIS IS A MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT), and I’ve pivoted to this blush in my collection. It’s a peach with a gold sheen that works amazingly for this time of year.
I hope this inspires you to take a moment to reflect on your February, beyond what was acceptable for social media. Leave me a comment of a random thought, quote, or favorite from the month!
